Individual Progress Tutorial Feedback

I had my first individual tutorial with Andy this afternoon to give feedback on the work I had done on Curious Eats and Alternate Music Room briefs. Overall it was good, for the curious eats logo he felt that the 'C of curious eats looks too separate from the rest of word so I need to carry on developing it and re-position the C so that I can do this. He also said to try and make the points of the C finer at the end to mirror the S.

Feedback on Curious Eats Logo

I talked through my logo development from yesterday with my tutor and the overall comments were good, that the Stage 3 logo was good, readable and was a better design than the previous ones. He suggested the next step from now was to look at the identity of the different sections (east, meats and treats) and try out if I could reflect each separate food category through the typeface. It will be a process of elimination to see if it will work or not. He also said to make sure that the logo itself 'will not get lost' in the sea of all the other brands like Curious Eats, this is something to watch out for. The overall impression of the logo was that it did suggest high quality produce but wasn't too portentous because of the combination of typefaces with the sub word (eats, meats treats). He said I should carry on making small tweaks to it until I am happy.

1st Progress Tutorial Feddback

This was the first progress tutorial for the module. I had to present my rational and statement of intent then talk about my briefs and making sure that they cross referenced with the my rational, and skills / products that I want to produce this year. Each of us were writing feedback for the person who was talking, my feedback is below;

Overall the feedback for the briefs // have a key set of outcomes

"You are about packaging, format, and publication..."

- CURIOUS EATS; strong brief and well focused on branding and packaging with the focus on print. Focus on the design and the function of the packaging, make the packaging the 'WOW' factor and think about how you can protect and preserve the foods in an alternative and innovative manner. Think of how the visual identity can be applied to a series of stocks; the main focus for this brief is print processes and the stocks.

- MUSIC ROOM; more of a 'play' brief and needs focusing in on it; editorial & web design - create a set of publications not just one of them. Categorise and organise the music (data collection as well.) It could be more of a research based brief - focus in on the information and background of selected musicians. Think about the relationship between print and web - publication vs tablet.

- AMORE SHAMPOO & OILS; make the focus on type and colour, create your own typeface for each range of shampoo and oil. Think about the range; female, male, kids, seasonal, strengths, functions, volumes. Create an identity that works for all.

- HARRIET FAIRBANK PHOTOGRAPHY; very straightforward and clear, (brand, editorial / zine and website), look at photo journals and websites but remember the more complex they are the more expensive they are.
