Music Logo Development // Stage 1

After finishing the two hand drawn pages of logos I can to a slight mind block about how I could develop the logo so I went away and had a break from this brief and came back to it this morning and started trying out typefaces. In addition I selected a few of the hand drawn logos that I scanned in and will start playing around with on illustrator and see what I come up with.

3 out of 4 of the logos I have chosen are designed only using the 3 initial letters of the name. I need to chose a typeface for the main part of the brand but for the logo I think that just using 3 characters is more suitable, I feel there is more I can work with.

I feel that this one looks quite similar to the dyson logo and I am not sure how easily the r can be identified, however I will play around with this on illustrator.

I wanted to have a contrast of a small X heigh for the main body of the characters with the tall stems of letters like L and T

This was a development on from the first logo I have drawn.

I scanned a couple of the chosen logos from the hand rendered pages to see if there was much improvement when I played around with them on illustrator. I still wasn't happy with what I was coming up with but here are the designs.

This one was actaully a copy off the page of logos that I printed out so I didn't feel that I was particularly developing my design skills, it was more to give me a step in the right direction. I felt that no matter what I did to the design there it did not improve so I scrapped this and went on to editing the next scanned in design.

Although this has more scope for design, overall you cant read the letters and it has just turned into a shape. Once the letters have been pointed out to people it is more legible but not at first glance. I do like the idea of joining together lower case letters so this is the how I am going to proceed onto the next step and see if I can make it more legible.
